01Who we are
Brilliant Flames ("we", "us", "our") is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and provides SaaS platforms and custom software development for businesses across New Zealand. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you use this website or contact us.
We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
02Information we collect
We collect only the information we need. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number and company name.
- The reason you contacted us and any message or details you include.
- Records of our communications with you, such as emails and notes from calls or demos.
- Basic technical information that is generated when you visit the website, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages requested. This is typically recorded in server logs by our hosting provider.
03How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you complete the contact or demo form, send us an email or call us. When the form is submitted, your message is sent to us by email. We also receive technical information automatically when you visit the website.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
04Why we collect it and how we use it
We use personal information:
- To respond to your enquiry, arrange a demo or scope a custom project.
- To provide, support and improve our products and services.
- To keep in touch with you about your enquiry or, where you are a customer, about your account.
- To keep the website secure and working properly.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We will not use your information for a purpose that is unrelated to the reason we collected it unless you agree or the law allows it.
05Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers that help us run the website and our business, such as website hosting and email providers. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where reasonably necessary.
- Government or law enforcement agencies where the law requires or permits us to.
- A buyer or successor, if our business or part of it is sold or restructured. We would require them to protect your information.
06Storing information overseas
Some of our service providers, such as hosting and email providers, may store or process information on servers outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected by safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020.
07Cookies and analytics
At the time of writing, this website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If we add analytics or similar tools in future, we will update this policy and, where appropriate, tell you how to opt out.
08Security and how long we keep information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including using secure connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to those who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above or as the law requires, and then securely delete or de-identify it.
09Your rights
You have the right to ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by the Privacy Act 2020, which is generally 20 working days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You can also make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.
10Information in our customer platforms
If you or your business uses one of our platforms, the business data you store in that platform is handled under the agreement we have with you. In general, you remain responsible for the personal information of your own customers and staff that you put into the platform, and we process it on your behalf to provide the service.
